Red Cross Month – Be part of a life changing experience
March is Red Cross Month, a time to honor the millions of people like you who generously give of your time, talent, money and blood to help change lives for those in need. President Franklin D. Roosevelt first declared March Red Cross Month in 1943. Each president since continues the tradition of recognizing the lifesaving services provided by the Red Cross and the incredible volunteers who make it possible. Read stories by Red Cross employees and volunteers, as well as those by sponsors who celebrate Red Cross Month 2010. Share your story and help spread the word about the importance of being part of a life changing experience. Red Cross support in Haiti
Since the tragic Haitian earthquakes hit in January 2010, the Red Cross has been on the scene providing ongoing support. The Red Cross was also able to send blood products to Haiti to support transfusion needs thanks to you. Take a look as the blood product shipments arrive in Haiti from the Red Cross Chicago distribution center. Read how CBS helped facilitate a shipment of blood products just a few days after the massive quake hit in January and how the Red Cross and other blood agencies continue to support patient need during the island's recovery. Follow Red Cross response in Haiti as it evolves. Give Blood. Get Points. Win Prizes.
The 2010 Red Cross Racing season is now underway! Visit this link to register and donate blood or platelets between January 16, 2010 through January 24, 2011. After each donation, be sure to return to Red Cross Racing to record your blood and platelet donations (or indicate if you were deferred – you can still get points for presenting to donate) to earn points that you can exchange for great prizes like a tripod travel chair or No. 16 die cast model car. Join the race where everyone wins! First-time donor and wife tell their story
